Washington Business Journal: It's a slow walk to a pedestrian link between Crystal City and Reagan National Airport
"Plans are slowly coming together for a pedestrian connection linking Reagan National Airport to Crystal City, one of the crucial transportation improvements Arlington pitched when luring Amazon to the area."
Washington Business Journal: Change of plan. Fairfax County weighs what should replace Topgolf Alexandria
"The first Topgolf in the United States could be replaced with a couple hundred townhomes under a proposed amendment to Fairfax County’s comprehensive plan."
UrbanTurf: Nationwide Housing Starts at 12-Year High
"Construction began on 1.36 million housing units in August — a 12 percent jump compared to July, and 6.6 percent higher than observed in August 2018. The monthly total is the highest number of housing starts since June 2007."
"The Washington Monument is set to reopen Thursday with a repaired elevator and a new security screening center after a three-year closure. The popular D.C. attraction has been closed to visitors since August 2016, when it was shut down by elevator problems."

"Prompted partly by the success in luring Amazon, 10 Northern Virginia jurisdictions have formed an alliance to market themselves as a region to attract other companies, especially those in the high-tech arena."
Alexandria Living Magazine: Seminary Road to go on a ‘Diet’
"City Council voted Saturday morning to put Seminary Road on a “diet,” reducing the current configuration, which is two lanes in each direction, to one lane in each direction, a center turn lane and new bike lanes."
"A major upgrade to Benjamin Banneker Park in East Falls Church is in the cards, with County Board members set to approve a contract of up to $2.6 million on Sept. 21. The construction contract will cover replacement of an athletic field, playground, picnic area and parking lot, plus improvements to walkways, landscaping, signage, trails and stormwater-management. Renovation of the dog park is also part of the project."

"The Lake Braddock Secondary School football field backs up to Peter Miller’s yard in Dunleigh, a neighborhood of single-family houses in Fairfax County, giving him an up-close view of the action, whether it’s the marching band practicing or the football team playing. The school is one of the attractions in Dunleigh."
